An articulated dump truck reversed uncontrollably down a ramp and proceeded to go over the road embankment, rolling and coming to rest upside down. We were able to efficiently have the loss assessed and settled with minimal downtime. Total incurred $461,000.

Our client completed the earthworks and slab for a commercial project. Over time, the slab failed and the policyholder received a writ for the damages incurred to repair the defective slab. On our recommendation, the policyholder had taken out a policy prior to these works which covered their liability for structural defects. The insurer investigated and successfully defended the claim after it was determined that the failure of the slab was due to water ingress from stormwater overflow from a neighbouring site. The claim cost $280,000 to defend.

A hire and rental company had a telehandler on hire when a rose joint failed on one of the hydraulic cylinders. The failure caused the boom to drop, pushing the cylinder into the engine cowl, resulting in significant damage to the machine. The insurer declined the claim on the basis that the loss arose from wear and tear. Bellrock was engaged to review the claim whereon it was established that whilst the wear and tear was uninsured, the resultant damage was covered. Following negotiations with the insurer, Bellrock was able to achieve settlement for the loss, minus the cost of the rose joint and cylinder.

A contractor had a machine on hire from a Bellrock client which was being used in a tunnelling project. The unit suffered damage from continued use in harsh environmental conditions. A Bellrock Advisor was engaged after the clients intermediary lodged a claim and was unsuccessful in obtaining indemnity. Bellrock proceeded to appoint a loss adjuster with specific expertise in this type of loss and the machine in question. A Bellrock advisor assisted the policyholder in securing $80,000 of the $130,000 loss indemnified whilst also enabling the other party to have the remaining sum settled outside of the insurance policy in a timely manner.

A civil contractor was operating an articulated dump truck when it was damaged on site. A mechanical workshop suffered a fire after a battery charger caught fire overnight. The fire was limited to the area around a bench and extinguished by the fire brigade quickly thereafter.

The fire caused structural damage to the roof, rendered all the compressor lines useless, caused heat stress to all the policyholder’s hydraulic equipment ultimately destroying them and prevented our client from using their facility for a number of months. We worked with our client to continue trading by engaging contractors to outsource works. We negotiated with the insurer to replace the equipment with new items, clean and reinstate the client’s property, rebuild the entire roof rather than encapsulate it and had them trading to capacity within a number of months. The total incurred in resolving this claim was $450,000.
